Wooden doors and furniture bring a royal feel to any home, but they require proper maintenance to stay pristine.
1. Sanding is Crucial
Always start by sanding the wood along the grain using medium-grit sandpaper, followed by fine-grit. This opens the pores of the wood to absorb the polish.
2. Applying the Sealer
Apply a sanding sealer to close the wood grains. This prevents the wood from absorbing too much polish and ensures a smooth finish.
3. Polishing (PU vs. Melamine)
Melamine polish is great for standard interior furniture, giving a glossy finish. For doors or areas exposed to sunlight or moisture, Polyurethane (PU) polish is much better as it creates a hard, plastic-like protective layer.
